Just as the name of this step implies, the very first step to loom knitting is to gather essential supplies. The major supplies that you will require are; a yarn, a knitting hook, and a knitting loom. However, the knitting hook is more of an option than a necessity, hence you don’t need to get one.
Also, remember that knitting looms come in multiple sizes. Therefore, pick the knitting loom size that matches the preferred width of your knitting. Also, if the yarns you are using are not very thick, you could even consider knitting 2 colors at once.
I actually think this is very informative article. However, I’m concerned the ‘Boye’ loom was given such a high rating given its design defect of the groove at the top of the pegs. All of us regular lookers know this is a major design issue/frustration, yet it wasn’t even mentioned in the ‘cons’. It makes me question the author’s authenticity.

Have you checked “LAYOER Round Knitting Loom Set“? It could be a good alternative of Boye.

Can a non-knitter use a loom to make a scarf or does one need to know how to knit? I have crocheted for 40 years but have never mastered knitting. I do want to make a scarf on a loom but I don’t want to do actual knitting. TIA.
Hi Ann,
Have you used home knitting machine for making a scarf? Using a good quality knitting machine can help you to solve your issues without being a master of knitting. Check this recommended knitting machine if you want to try it.
